"Tiger in Love" story sent by:Eliza |
Nicolai and Natasha are 2 Siberian tigers who live in a zoo. In the wild, I know that Siberian tigers are a solitary species. In a zoo, they have to share the same space forever. Those living conditions are against their nature. But I feel that Nicolai and Natasha have found their own solution to stand captivity: they are in love. They lip each other, rub themselves and do everything together. The zoo staff is planning to separate the tigers in love. Their zookeeper told me that Nicolai and Natasha have to have babies with other partners in the name of genes biodiversity conservation. He told me that it stays only 450 Siberian tigers in the Nature, less than in captivity. And that we have to do everything we can to conserve the species. But, I cannot avoid wondering if in breaking those 2 tigers intimacy, the human science takes the right decision? |
"Monkey!"![]() story sent by: Henryk |
Last year, I have got from my friends birthday presents: a ticket to a zoo and a lottery ticket. I have chosen to go to Apenheul (a monkey zoo in Holland). We bought train tickets, I wrote my lottery number in my mobile phone, we took some beer cans, and there we go. I have heard that Apenheul is a very nice place for monkeys; they look freer there then in any other zoo's, but I have never been there before.
The weather was good and we were walking, joking, and enjoying ourselves. Then, we came to Saïmiri territory. Suddenly there were more than a hundred little monkeys around us. They jumped on our head, ran on our shoulders, looking for a food, enjoying themselves. They were so funny! At one moment, 4 individuals were operating on my body. I was not really feeling secured, but those monkeys were small and nice, may be just too much exploring my cloth. Suddenly, I felt something in my pocket. I turned my head and noticed that one of these monkeys immediately run away. I was still observing him and saw that he had something in his hands, probably from my pocket. His 5 little colleagues came to him to see what he has stolen. And they started to quarrel and fight for it. I was laughing. Suddenly, I recognised that this little animal has stolen my colorful lottery ticket! Now, his fighting colleagues turned it into 100 pieces of paper. Monkeys! I forgot about this little incident, but few days later, out of curiosity, I have checked the lottery results. Yeah, my lot number won 12.375 euros! Monkey! Monkey! Monkey! |

I am working in a zoo and I want to tell you an unexpected story between a man and a cheetah adult, I have heard.
Stephan is a scientist. He works in a zoo and is used to manage felines exchanges with other zoos in the world. One day, Mickette arrived. She is a female cheetah in transit for 6 months in Stephan's zoo. But he cannot imagine what's going to happen to him. Mickette acts unusually. She follows him, talks to him and calls him from the day she arrived in the zoo. She behaves this way, only with him. After several days, Stephan has to admit what's obvious: Mickette felt in love with him. He's trying in vain to push her back to fellows. The female cheetah has chosen him. And Stephan ends to become very attached to her. I think that Mickette was so demonstrative that Stephan could not resist to her purring and coming up against him, only him. But Stephan feels like betraying Mickette when he thinks that, in 6 months, he will have to transfer her to another zoo for a breeding program. I do not know how Stephan will manage this new feeling. Will he let Mickette go away or will he do everything he can to keep her in the zoo. |
"The Zoo-lynx" story sent by:Marco |
The lynx is a kind of wildcat. It has powerful claws used to climb trees. Lynx use to climb trees for surveying its territory but also to feel secured. When the danger is gone, then, the lynx come down from the tree. Except the zoo-lynx... This zoo-lynx, climbed a 25 meters high tree. It stayed here during 10 days. Its problem: it was simply not able to come down. Zoo workers called a professional tree climber. He climbed the 25 meters high tree till he was about one meter from the lynx and he cut the lynx branch with a chain saw. When the lynx touched the ground, zoo workers cached it with special nets. But... our lynx tried something else... It escaped from nets and climbed the fence of its cage till the top of it and started to walk on the cage roof. After making 4 men running, the alone lynx gave up and had been catched. Whatever the reason is to climb a tree, I am telling to myself that this story gives an example of animal's nature changed by captivity and also, maybe, that animals do not feel really secured in a cage. |
